Goochland County Earns Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Certification

Goochland County Earns Virginia Values Veterans Certification

On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, County Administrator John Budesky announced that Goochland County had earned the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Program certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Veterans Services.

In receiving this certification, Goochland County joins over 700 corporate and government partners who are V3 certified.

The V3 Program is an innovative program administered by the Virginia Department of Veteran Services that works with companies and state and local government agencies across the Commonwealth to promote the recruitment, hiring, and retention of military veterans in the workforce.  Since its inception in 2012, more than 38,000 veterans have been hired as a result of the efforts of the V3 Program and its partner employers.

“The County is committed to helping assure that those who served our nation find jobs in the civilian workforce as they transition out of the military,” remarked Mr. Budesky.  “We are doing our part to assure that Virginia is the best state in America for veterans and their families to live, work, and thrive.”

Achievement of the V3 certification demonstrates Goochland County’s ongoing commitment to and recognition of active duty military and veterans.  Just a month ago in November the Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution declaring Goochland County as a Purple Heart County, honoring the sacrifices and service of men and women who are recipients of the Purple Heart Medal.

Virginia is home to over 725,000 veterans, and with the unique skills and training they received while serving our country, these men and women can be an enormous asset to employers.

“We are pleased to have completed all training requirements and been recognized as an official “V3” – Certified Employer,” remarked Human Resources Director Kelly Parrish. “Goochland County truly values veterans and looks forward to opportunities to transition them into employment with Goochland County.”
