By County code, the Administration complex is short 71 parking spaces. A parking study was conducted and utilization rates of the parking lot indicated that the parking lot was at maximal use throughout the day.
One of the County’s strategic goals includes maximizing customer service efforts. This project will greatly enhance customer service efforts and will enhance citizen’s abilities to access County services.
Phase I of the parking lot expansion is being completed at the front of the Administration Building. The timing is designed to limit the negative impact to the public as well as to County staff as it relates to construction and parking.
Phase II of the parking lot expansion will occur to the rear of the Extension Office. This work will begin in summer of 2018 with a duration of 60-90 days.
Once both phases of the parking expansion are completed, 63 spaces will be gained.
The County took great care in the design and layout of the new parking lot. Landscaping and trees were a priority in that design. Staff went to great lengths to save as many mature trees as possible. It is the County’s goal to replace more trees than what were removed as well as to utilize mature trees as replacements.
The project is funded through the County’s Capital Improvement Plan. $405,000 from FY 18 and $350,000 from FY 19.
It is anticipated that construction of the front parking lot will begin in August with a duration of 60-90 days. The construction of the parking lot located behind the Extension Office will take place next summer.
The lot is being designed to maximize available space behind the Extension Office while maintaining the integrity and safety of the recreational playing surfaces located at the Sports Complex (old high school).
