The Goochland County Office of the General Registrar is preparing for the upcoming March 5th, 2024, Presidential Primary Election. With the first day of in-person early voting happening on Friday, January 19th, 2024, there are a few things to know before arriving at the polling location.
The March 5th, 2024, election is a Dual Primary Election meaning it is for both, Republican and Democrat, Presidential Candidates. Primary elections are held for parties to allow voters to choose their party’s nominee. When a voter arrives at the polling location, they will be asked to identify in which party’s primary they would like to vote. Poll workers will not ask for a voter’s political affiliation, just in which election they will be voting to ensure voters are presented with the correct ballot. In Virginia, voters do not register under a party and may vote in either party’s primary but may vote in only one.
In-Person early voting for the March 5th, 2024 Presidential Primary Election will take place at the Goochland County Office of the General Registrar located at 1876 Sandy Hook Road, Goochland, VA, 23063. The Satellite Office at the Goochland Sports Complex will not be used for this election.
