On Monday, September 11th, it will be sixteen years since terrorists orchestrated an attack against symbols of America’s military and way of life. Once again, the Goochland County community will gather to remember the loss and honor the sacrifice that we saw in New York City, Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and Arlington, Virginia.
At 9:45 AM members of the first responder community (Goochland County Sheriff's Office and Goochland County Fire-Rescue) will gather at Goochland County Fire-Rescue Company 5 station (2710 Fairground Rd, Goochland, VA 23063) to specifically honor their brothers and sisters who gave their lives in the line of duty. The names of the fallen will be read, and one fallen hero will be highlighted with their biography. A large American Flag will fly triumphantly over the service and the attendees. The public is invited to attend and join the Goochland County public safety community.
At 7PM the entire Goochland County community is invited to gather at Goochland County Fire-Rescue Company 1 station (180 River Rd, Manakin Sabot, VA 23103) for a remembrance service. Members of the Goochland County Public Schools Marine JROTC will present our nations colors and several speakers will share inspirational messages. The service will conclude at the site of the 9/11Memorial located on the grounds of the fire-rescue station. The public are encouraged to attend.
