Goochland Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services Recognized for Excellence in Virginia Fire Services
During the Tuesday, May 6 meeting, representatives from the Governor’s Office presented Goochland County Department of Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services with the Governor’s Fire Service Awards Excellence in Virginia Fire Services for its new live fire structure located at the Henley Fire-Training Center.
Opened on August 29, 2024, the $1.2 million facility utilizes gas to simulate a fire, which allows training crews to be met with real flame, heat and restricted visibility just like they would in a real-life event. The container style structure also includes re-configurable wall panels which allow for the creation of multiple different scenarios. Read more.
