Goochland County Board of Supervisors Names Jeremy Raley as County Administrator

Following an extensive search lasting several months, the Goochland County Board of Supervisors has chosen Dr. Jeremy Raley to serve as the next County Administrator. During a special meeting on Friday, May 23rd, the Goochland County Board of Supervisors voted to approve Raley’s employment contract. Raley has served as the Chief of Staff for the Virginia Department of Education since 2023.  Read more.

The next Document Shredding and Household Hazardous Waste Collection event will be held on Saturday, June 7th from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Goochland Fairground Property (intersection of Fairground Road and Sandy Hook Road). Must show proof of Goochland residency. Read more.

Local Emergency Planning Committee Meeting

Local Emergency Planning Committee Meeting For Businesses and Community

Be Prepared. Stay Informed. Get Involved. REMINDER to join the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meeting next week on May 28.  During the meeting, the following topics will be discussed: a local business emergency case study, preparedness tips in case a business has an emergency, how to stay informed about emergencies in Goochland, and how to be prepared for the upcoming hurricane season. The meeting is targeted towards local businesses, non-profits, organizations, and agencies interested in safety and emergency preparedness for themselves, and is open to the public. It will start at 3:30 PM in the Board Meeting Room 250 at 1800 Sandy Hook Road. For questions, call 804-556-5304.

EMS Week

As EMS Week comes to a close, we continue to honor the sacrifice and dedication of EMS personnel and teams across the world. 

On Tuesday, May 20, representatives from Goochland County Fire-Rescue  and Goochland County joined Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads, Old Dominion EMS Alliance, Inc, Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services, Virginia Department of Health, and Virginia Ambulance Association for an EMS Week Celebration at Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads headquarters in Oilville. 

EMS Week and is a time to thank the EMTs, Paramedics, and other EMS personnel for their service and sacrifice. Goochland County is incredibly thankful for the dedicated crews and EMS partners who serve our citizens when lives are on the line. 

Thank you to all those, career and volunteer, who work together to make Goochland a safer, healthier county.
