Labor Day Closures

Goochland County Government Offices, Convenience Centers, Parks and Recreation facilities, and Goochland Branch Library will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025, in observance of Labor Day. Parks and Recreation will also be closed on Sunday, August 31.

Central Virginia Waste Management Authority's residential curbside recycling will be delayed one day the week of September 1-6. Goochland's RED Friday residential curbside recycling collection will be serviced on Saturday, September 6th.

Goochland County will hold a Technology Overlay District and Technology Zone Amendment Community Meeting on Monday, September 8th starting at 6:00 p.m. at Goochland High School Auditorium at 3250 River Rd West, Goochland, Virginia 23063. Read more.

Goochland County to Remember September 11, 2001

September 11, 2025 will mark 24 years since the attacks in Arlington, Virginia, New York City, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Again this year, Goochland County Department of Fire-Rescue & Emergency Services will host two services. Community members are welcome to attend both services. Read more.

Changes to Environmental and POD Fees In Effect 9/1

Goochland County Board of Supervisors Adopt Changes to Environmental and Plan of Development Fees

During their August 5, 2025, meeting, the Goochland County Board of Supervisors adopted an ordinance amendment revising fees related to Plan of Development and environmental permit reviews and reinspections. The fees will be applicable to new applications, any resubmittals of new or existing applications, or reinspection requests received after September 1, 2025. Read more.

Three Goochland County Grounds Crew members, Keith Knighton, John Snead, and Carl Lacy, volunteered to help bring a softball field back to life!

The field at the historic Goochland Recreational Center, a local nonprofit organization, had fallen into disrepair. But thanks to the dedication of these staff members and other generous community donations, it’s been cleared, leveled, and outfitted with bases; restoring a space that once brought the community together and will again soon.
