Goochland County Office Closures for Christmas

Goochland County Offices and Animal Shelter and Adoption Center will be closed Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, December 26 for the Christmas holiday.

Convenience Centers will only be closed Wednesday, December 24 and Thursday, December 25.

Parks & Recreation will also be closed on Saturday, December 27 and Sunday, December 28.

The Goochland Branch Library will be closed Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, December 26.

All Central Virginia Waste Management Authority residential curbside recycling collections will be on a one-day delay the week of Christmas. Goochland's RED Friday curbside recycling pickup will move to Saturday, December 27.

Department of Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services Thankful for Blood Donors

Goochland County Department of Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services is grateful for the community support for its first community blood drive, held in partnership with Inova Blood Donor Services. The event took place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Goochland Sports Complex and resulted in 36 blood donations - a vital contribution to the region’s emergency medical services. Read more.

County Offices Closed for New Year's Day

County Offices & Convenience Centers Closed for New Year's Day

Goochland County Offices, Convenience Centers, Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, and Parks and Recreation facilities will be CLOSED on Thursday, January 1st. All offices & facilities will reopen with normal business hours on Friday, January 2nd.

Goochland County Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed starting at 5:00PM on Wednesday, December 31st.

The Goochland Branch Library will be closed starting at 3:00PM on Wednesday, December 31st.

Goochland County Streamlines Development Plan Submissions Process

Beginning January 1, 2026, Goochland County Community Development Department is implementing a streamlined process for development plan submissions aimed at improving efficiency and enhancing service delivery for residents and developers. This is a part of the department’s overall strategy to improve customer experience that began in the summer. Read more.

Goochland County had the highest voter turnout of any locality in Virginia for the 2025 General Election. While the state average was 54.9%, Goochland had a 71.1% turnout, the highest among all 133 jurisdictions in the Commonwealth.

This isn’t the first time Goochland voters led the Commonwealth, Goochland also had the highest voter turnout in 2008, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2024.
