On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, members of the Goochland community gathered to celebrate Wayne Dementi’s induction into the Goochland County Parks and Recreation Wall of Fame.

The Wall of Fame is designated for individuals who have shown longstanding dedication and humanitarian commitment to the residents of Goochland County. Past recipients include Sally Graham, Ann Casey, Beth Moore, Vernon Flemming, Robert Wheatley, and Calvin Hopkins, among others.  

During the ceremony, Dementi was recognized for his numerous leadership roles, including President of the Rotary Club of Goochland, President of Goochland Fellowship and Family Services, President of the Goochland Chamber of Commerce, and President of the Goochland Historical Society. In addition, he played a key role in the founding of the Friends of Goochland Parks and Goochland Pet Lovers. 

Over the years, Dementi’s actions have helped raise money for numerous facility and park improvements including the Courthouse Green restoration, Goochland Animal Shelter Adoption Wing, the Hidden Rock Park Disc Golf Course, the Tucker Park Bark Park, and more. 

On being inducted into the Wall of Fame, Dementi said, “Goochland has a great culture for citizen involvement. We are truly blessed to have the county leadership we have. Dianne and I know we have been blessed to call Goochland home. Goochland is easy to love.”

Following the ceremony, the Goochland County Board of Supervisors formally recognized Dementi’s commitment with a resolution.

“Wayne Dementi’s contributions to Goochland County have left an indelible mark on our community and its parks.”, said Tom Cocke, Director of Parks and Recreation.  “His leadership and unwavering dedication have enhanced the lives of countless residents, and his induction into the Wall of Fame is a well-deserved honor that celebrates his lasting impact.”
