[ARCHIVED] VDOT I-64 / State Route 623 (Ashland Road) Interchange Improvements Study Survey

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has launched a survey to solicit public feedback on existing transportation needs and issues at the Interstate 64 / State Route 623 (Ashland Road) interchange as part of an Interchange Improvement Study and to better understand how the traveling public uses this interchange.

Goochland County encourages community members and stakeholders to complete the survey, which is available at https://publicinput.com/r7026, by November 26th. A subsequent public outreach from VDOT will share design alternatives for the interchange and solicit public feedback on the design options.

Interchange Access Report (IAR) Study

The purpose of this Interchange Access Report (IAR) Study by VDOT is to evaluate safety and operational issues and develop solutions for the I-64 / SR 623 (Ashland Road) interchange (Exit 173). An IAR Study is required by VDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) prior to implementing an interchange modification to the U.S. interstate system.

Benefits

This study will identify the best interchange design to accommodate existing traffic and planned economic activity in the vicinity of the interchange. This study will consider safety, operations, environmental impact, cost, constructability, and multimodal accommodations.
