Carbon Monoxide Incident in Eastern Goochland

Goochland County Department of Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services was dispatched to a call for carbon monoxide poisoning at a commercial building on Wilkes Ridge Drive at 9:56am on Tuesday morning.  The building was already under evacuation prior to arrival of the first units.  

In addition to Goochland County, Hanover County Fire - EMS and Henrico County Division of Fire provided mutual aid transport. In total 8 individuals were transported, 18 were evaluated and refused treatment, including 4 construction workers.  Goochland County Public Schools provided buses to keep those evacuated from the building cool.   

The building has since been cleared for entry by Goochland County Department of Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services and Goochland Department of Building Inspections and returned to operational status. Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Administration (VOSHA) and the Virginia Department of Health have been notified of the incident.
