Find out about the proposed project to construct a new 2-lane road with raised concrete median, left turn lane, and curb/gutter with sidewalk. The proposed connector roadway will link Hockett Road to Ashland Road at its intersection with Broad Street. A roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Hockett Road and Holly Lane.

 

The meeting will be held in an open forum style from 5:30 – 7 p.m. This format will provide the flexibility to allow participants to meet and discuss the proposed roadway alignments directly with project staff members.

 

Review the project information at VDOT’s Richmond District Office located at 2430 Pine Forest Drive in Colonial Heights, 23834-9002, 804-609-5281, 1-800-367-7623 or TTY/TDD 711. Please call ahead to ensure the availability of appropriate personnel to answer your questions.

 

Property impact information and tentative construction schedules are available for your review at the above addresses and will be available at the public hearing.   

 

Give your written or oral comments at the meeting or submit them no later than January 24, 2025­­­­­ to Tom Kendrick, project manager, Virginia Department of Transportation, 2430 Pine Forest Drive, Colonial Heights, VA 23834-9002. VDOT’s Richmond District environmental section is currently studying the potential environmental impacts of the project in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).  The project will be coordinated with the appropriate federal, state and local agencies and officials. During construction, all reasonable efforts will be made to protect the environment with respect to dust control, siltation and erosion.  Construction will conform to VDOT specifications and special provisions and the Virginia Department of Soil and Water Conservation regulations.

 

*In the event of inclement weather on January 14,2025, the meeting will be rescheduled for January 21, 2025, same time and location.
