[ARCHIVED] Goochland Confirms No Impact on the County’s Water System Following Production Issues in Richmond

Goochland Confirms No Impact on the Countys Water Systems - May 2025

On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, Goochland County learned the City of Richmond’s Water Treatment Plan experienced an operational issue that has resulted in the issuance of a boil water advisory for some of its customers.    Goochland’s Department of Public Utilities confirms there has been no adverse impact on the public water systems in Goochland County and Goochland’s water remains safe for consumption and use.

Henrico County, where Goochland purchases water for the East End Water System, has confirmed that Henrico is not under a boil water advisory at this time and their water remains safe for consumption and use.  As of 7:30 a.m., Henrico’s Department of Public Utilities had closed valves at connections to the city’s system, which serves portions of central and eastern Henrico. Henrico’s water tanks, which had been kept at capacity, are supplying customers who typically are served by the city. Water pressure remains normal countywide in Henrico.

The confirmation that Goochland’s water remains safe for consumption and use applies to Aqua Virginia customers living in the James River Estates and Pagebrook subdivisions in eastern Goochland and also to Goochland customers in the Courthouse area.

Goochland County is continuing to monitor the City of Richmond’s situation and remains in contact with our regional partners regarding the situation.  Any updates will be shared on the County’s website at www.goochlandva.us
