Goochland County Parks and Recreation is offering a lot of different options to suit your active lifestyle. There is something for everyone! Register for these programs and more using the link below or in the Parks and Recreation offices (2748 Dogtown Road or 1800 Sandy Hook Road).

 

Zumba

Zumba is a dance fitness format that will include pop, hip hop, and international music with dance rhythms that incorporate interval exercises. These dances will help you tone target areas on your body and absolutely increase your confidence as this class is a judgment free zone. This party is for everyone regardless of their fitness level. The goal is to have fun and keep moving!

Mondays and Wednesdays; August 30-October 13  6:00-7:00pm   All ages welcome $45  CHS Eagle Theater

 

Tai Chi for Health

Tai Chi is an effective exercise to improve health and well-being. Join us for a 6-week session to exercise your entire body and strengthen your mind. The central focus of Tai Chi is to enable the qi, a life force, to flow smoothly and powerfully throughout the body benefiting improved health and balance, increased flexibility and strength, and reduced stress. Choose between one day or two days a week.

Tuesdays and Fridays; August 31-October 5  9:00-10:00am Ages 50+  GSC Dance Studio

$60/one day a week  $120/ two days a week

 

Sunrise Bootcamp

Challenge your fitness routine with a fast paced, full body, early morning, outside workout! Geared for all fitness levels with modifications for beginner to advanced. Bring a yoga mat and/or hand weights if wanted. Class will meet by the shelters at Leakes Mill Park.

Saturdays; September 4-October 2  7:30-8:15am   Ages 12+  $38  Leakes Mill Park

 

Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga incorporates poses, breathing, and deep relaxation. Participants should bring their own mat. Choose to take class one or two days a week.

Mondays and Wednesdays; September 13-October 18   6:00-7:00pm    Ages 13+  GSC Dance Studio

$60/one day a week $120/ two days a week

 

Body Awake

This class is designed to improve your flexibility and build muscle while gaining light cardio endurance. Stretch, strengthen, and cardio burnout will leave you feeling powerful and strong.

Thursdays; September 16-October 7  2:00-2:45pm  Ages 13+  $60  GSC Dance Studio

 

Beginning Ballet and Creative Movement

Beginning Ballet and Creative Movement teaches young dancers balance, coordination, basic dance technique, and classroom etiquette. Students will work on leaps, turns, flexibility and rhythm, using fun music and games. Dancers should wear a leotard, tights, or dance pants and ballet shoes.

Thursdays; September 23-December 16  4:30-5:15pm  Ages 3-6  $180  CHS Eagle Theater


Open Ballet and Creative Movement

This class offers a wider age rage and will explore various styles of dance including ballet, jazz, and hip hop. Beginners and more experienced dancers are welcome. This class is meant to be fun, improve basic dance techniques and be a great form of exercise for kids!
