East End Water Customers Can Resume Normal Water Use as Henrico and Richmond Return to Normal Operations
Goochland County is pleased to share that customers of the East End Water System can resume normal water usage following the Friday, May 30th request to voluntarily conserve water. Both Henrico County and the City of Richmond water systems returned to normal operations on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

City of Richmond Water Main Break Impacting Henrico County
East End Water Customers Encouraged to Conserve Water
Goochland County is asking customers of the East End Water System to voluntarily conserve water where possible.
Due to a water main break in the City of Richmond, which provides water to Henrico County, Henrico has been working to refill water storage tanks to ensure sufficient supply. To assist with those efforts, Henrico has requested that their customers conserve water, as they are able.
Henrico County, where Goochland purchases water for the East End Water System, has confirmed that the water is safe for consumption and that customers are not under a boil water advisory. However, voluntary conservation efforts will help as Henrico works to refill their water storage tanks.
Goochland County Department of Public Utilities purchases water for the East End Water System from Henrico County and the Henrico County Water Treatment Plant located in western Henrico. The water for the Goochland Courthouse Water System is purchased from the Department of Corrections and originates at their Water Treatment Plant on River Road West.

City of Richmond Boil Water Advisory May 2025

Under the guidance of the Virginia Department of Health, Henrico County reopened their connection to the city of Richmond’s water supply the evening of Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
Henrico County, where Goochland purchases water for the East End Water System, has confirmed that the water is safe for consumption and that customers are not under a boil water advisory. Goochland County officials confirm that the water supply in the East End Water system was not impacted during this incident.

Goochland Confirms No Impact on the County’s Water System Following Production Issues Overnight at Richmond’s Treatment Plant
On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, Goochland County learned the City of Richmond’s Water Treatment Plant experienced an operational issue that has resulted in the issuance of a boil water advisory for some of its customers. Goochland’s Department of Public Utilities confirms there has been no adverse impact on the public water systems in Goochland County and Goochland’s water remains safe for consumption and use.
Henrico County, where Goochland purchases water for the East End Water System, has confirmed that Henrico is not under a boil water advisory at this time and their water remains safe for consumption and use. As of 7:30 a.m., Henrico’s Department of Public Utilities had closed valves at connections to the city’s system, which serves portions of central and eastern Henrico. Henrico’s water tanks, which had been kept at capacity, are supplying customers who typically are served by the city. Water pressure remains normal countywide in Henrico.
The confirmation that Goochland’s water remains safe for consumption and use applies to Aqua Virginia customers living in the James River Estates and Pagebrook subdivisions in eastern Goochland and also to Goochland customers in the Courthouse area.
