The Community Criminal Justice Board (CCJB) meetings are typically held on the 2^nd Wednesday in January, April, July, and October. The schedule can change, and current information is available on this webpage, Criminal Justice Planner — OAR Charlottesville (oar-jacc.org), or from Matt Vitale at mvitale@oar-jacc.org.

Only 1 member may serve if that member meets both the citizen requirement and the requirement to have a knowledge and understanding of the Goochland County Criminal Justice system. The member serves consecutive terms unless no other person meets the criteria for that position.

Purpose

The Community Criminal Justice Board’s purpose is to enable participating localities to work together to develop community-based pretrial court services and post-conviction alternatives to incarceration for misdemeanants and certain nonviolent felons. This work is done under the authority of, and in accord, with the Comprehensive Community Corrections Act for Local-Responsible Offenders, Title 9.1, Chapter 1, Article 9 of the Code of Virginia and the Pretrial Services Act, Title 19.2, Chapter 9, Article 5 of the Code of Virginia.

The participating localities are Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Orange, and Nelson County. The Board meetings happen quarterly to discuss trends in crime and incarceration, and to consider proven alternatives to incarceration that enhance long-term public safety goals.
