[ARCHIVED] Fitch Affirms Goochland’s ‘AAA’ Credit Rating

AAA

On Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, Fitch Ratings announced that it has affirmed Goochland’s Issuer Default Rating and general obligation bond rating at ‘AAA’.

The number associated with Goochland County’s Model Implied Rating is 10.99, which is at the upper end of the range for the ‘AAA’ rating. This announcement underscores Goochland’s continued financial excellence.

Goochland County first earned its Fitch rating in 2021, making it the smallest county in the United States to have earned the highest rating from all three credit rating agencies. Starting with S&P in 2015, then from Moody’s in 2018.

“Keeping our AAA credit rating is a big win for our community.”, said Victor Carpenter, Goochland County Administrator. “It shows we’re managing taxpayer dollars wisely and helps us save money on borrowing. We’re proud to see our hard work paying off and are committed to keeping it that way."

A ‘AAA’ credit rating is the highest possible rating assigned to a debt issuer and is a testament to the County’s financial strength.
