[ARCHIVED] Goochland County Declares Local State of Emergency Ahead of Winter Storm

Goochland Declares Local State of Emergency

Goochland County has declared a local State of Emergency ahead of the winter storm expected to impact the area beginning Saturday, January 24, 2026. With the amount of snow and ice expected over the weekend, residents should prepare for hazardous road conditions and power outages.

If you are experiencing a non-emergency situation due to the storm, please contact the Goochland County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at (804)556-5678. For emergency situations dial 911.

Roadway Conditions

The Virginia State Police is advising drivers to stay off the roadways during and after the storm to allow the Virginia Department of Transportation time to safely clear the roads. If it is absolutely necessary to travel, be sure to check 511 Virginia before leaving. To report downed trees or road hazards, call VDOT's Customer Service Center at (804) 367-ROAD (800-367-7623).

Power Outages

Residents are encouraged to keep these important phone numbers on hand as the winter storm moves through our area this weekend. Remember it's important to report power outages or downed lines to your power provider.
