Goochland County is the proud caretaker of two large pieces of steel that came from the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Several years ago some members of Goochland Fire-Rescue Company #1 in cooperation with the Freedom Flag Foundation constructed a reflection area to house the steel. This gave Goochland County and its residents a lasting memorial where they could sit and reflect as well as teach children and grandchildren about the events of that day 14 years ago.
Annually the community has been gathering at this site to reflect, share, and remember the sacrifices and loss of that day. All residents are invited to this year’s Remembrance Event which will be held at 7PM at Company # 1 (180 River Rd West) on Friday September 11, 2015.
