Goochland County is pleased to announce significant roadway improvements to the Rockville Opportunity Corridor (ROC) on Ashland Road – Route 623. 

To accommodate developing businesses and increased access for residents and visitors, roadway and infrastructure improvements are planned for the ROC. Projects at key locations along Ashland Road include installing traffic lights, adding entrance roads and turn lanes. The improvements will reduce congestion and enhance safe travel through the Corridor. 

"We’re committed to balancing progress with the needs of our community," said Sara Worley, Goochland County Director of Economic Development. "The improvements will not only enhance the Corridor's infrastructure but also invest in a prosperous future for our residents, businesses, and visitors."

The planned roadway improvement projects include:

• Temporary Ashland Road/I-64 Interchange Improvements
• Project Rocky Ashland Road Improvements
• AXIAL Rockville 64 Ashland Road Improvements
• Ashland Road/I-64 Divergent Diamond Interchange
• Ashland Road/I-64 Park and Ride Relocation 

Construction is now underway, with anticipated phased completion dates starting in Spring 2025, and continuing through Summer 2029. 

The Temporary Ashland Road/I-64 Interchange Improvements and the Project Rocky Ashland Road Improvements are fully funded by Project Rocky. The AXIAL Rockville 64 Ashland Road Improvements are fully funded by AXIAL Rockville 64.  “We appreciate the significant investment our project partners have made in our community and look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts,” said Worley.

Motorists are advised that road construction will be taking place in the area. While every effort will be made to minimize disruptions, the following traffic impacts can be expected:

• Brief traffic impacts during daytime hours
• Nightly closures to accommodate construction
• Single-lane closures with flaggers to direct traffic during work hours

Residents, businesses, and visitors are encouraged to stay informed and involved throughout the construction process. Regular updates will be provided on work zone activities, and safety remains a top priority as travelers navigate the Rockville Opportunity Corridor on Ashland Road.
