[ARCHIVED] Commonwealth Accepting Public Comments - Funding the Right Transportation Projects

Commonwealth Transportation Board - SYIP FY 19-24 - Spring 2018

The regional public hearing for the Richmond District, which includes Goochland County, is Tuesday, April 24th at 4 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn (800 Southpark Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834) in Colonial Heights.  Staff will be presenting comments to the Commonwealth Transportation Board at the meeting, but it is important that they hear from citizens as well.

Comments will be accepted informally at the meeting and may also be submitted via mail, email or online until May 30, 2018.

Mail: Infrastructure Investment Director, VDOT, 140 E. Broad St., Richmond, Virginia 23219

Email: Six-YearProgram@VDOT.Virginia.gov

The Commonwealth Transportation Board will take your comments into consideration as it develops the Six-Year Improvement Program (FY 2019-2024 SYIP). The program allocates public funds to highway, road, bridge, rail, bicycle, pedestrian and public transportation projects. All federally eligible projects in the SYIP will be included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program to document how Virginia will obligate its federal funds.

You can review the list of projects and funding allocations in the proposed Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP) via posted meeting materials.  The SYIP Database is accessible at http://syip.virginiadot.org/Pages/allProjects.aspx and for project status see the SMART SCALE Dashboard or the VDOT Dashboard

Critically important projects in Goochland include:

  • Improve interchange at Rt. 288 and Broad Street Road (Rt. 250)
  • Install a traffic signal at the intersection of Patterson Avenue (Rt. 6) and West Creek Parkway
  • Install a traffic signal at the interchange of I-64 and Ashland Road (Rt. 623)

For more information about the SYIP visit  http://www.ctb.virginia.gov/planning/syip/default.asp.  Comments may be submitted via mail, email or online until May 30, 2018.
