This
award was received for the fifth year in a row, this time for the County’s
Fiscal Year 2017 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). It represents the highest form of recognition
in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its
attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its
management.
“Attainment
of the Certificate of Achievement is a noteworthy accomplishment, not all
counties get recognized with this award,” noted County Administrator John A.
Budesky, “it demonstrates Goochland County’s ongoing efforts of transparency.”
Judged
by an impartial panel, the FY 2017 CAFR meets high standards, which include
demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate
its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the
CAFR.
The FY 2017 CAFR can be found on the County’s website
(www.goochlandva.us) under annual audits.
Mr. Budesky went on to add, “This
recognition also recognizes the combined efforts of our school, agency, and
constitutional partners in assuring financial excellence for Goochland
County.” Completion of the FY 2017 CAFR
was truly a team effort involving the entire County staff and in particular the
Treasurer and staff of the Treasurer’s Office, the Commissioner of Revenue, the
School Finance Department, Social Services, and the Department of Financial
Services.
The Goochland County Board of Supervisors announced this latest recognition at their July 3, 2018 Board Meeting, congratulating everyone involved, especially the Financial Services team.
