Census 2020 - Census Day Start Future

Recently Goochland County Board of Supervisors Chair and District 1 Member Susan Lascolette, Goochland County Public Schools School Board District 2 Representative William E. Quarles, Jr., GoochlandCares Executive Director Sally Graham, and NAACP President Wendy Hobbs came together to encourage the community to complete the 2020 Census!

Everyone counts including your family, friends, and neighbors. The 2020 Census helps direct billions of dollars of funding for things that our community needs including roads, education, & public safety. Let’s make sure everyone in Goochland is counted and we get the funding that our community deserves!

Census Data Impacts Funding

There are three options for responding to the 2020 Census including:

  • Online at https://my2020census.gov/
  • By phone – to begin call 844-330-2020
  • By mail – To respond, mail back the paper questionnaire sent to your home.

2020 Census Digital Action Weekend

Responding now will help prevent the need for a census taker to visit your address. Complete the Census today!  Remember all responses are confidential.

2020 Census Operational Adjustments Due to COVID-19

The U.S. Census Bureau is adapting or delaying some of our operations to protect the health and safety of their staff and the public.  In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, the U.S. Census Bureau has adjusted 2020 Census operations in order to:

  • Protect the health and safety of the American public and Census Bureau employees.
  • Implement guidance from Federal, State, and local authorities regarding COVID-19.
  • Ensure a complete and accurate count of all communities.

The U.S. Census Bureau, in coordination with Federal, State, and local health officials, will begin a phased restart of some 2020 Census field operations.  For more details please visit https://2020census.gov/.

Self-Response Phase

Online, phone and mailed self-responses continue throughout the data collection process through October 31st.

Nonresponse Followup (NRFU)

Census takers will interview households in person for nonresponse followup during the revised schedule of August 11 – October 31.
