[ARCHIVED] Water Main Break Affecting Public Utilities Customers in Eastern Goochland

WATER MAIN BREAK

A water main break has occurred in the utility system in the eastern part of Goochland, resulting in a loss of water and water pressure to most of the customers in the area.

Goochland County Public Utilities crews and emergency contractors are on site fixing the water main break now and hope to complete repairs and restore service soon.   Unfortunately, this will result in a temporary loss of water and water pressure until repairs are completed.

A boil water notice is in effect for all east end public utilities customers until further notice. Do not drink tap water without boiling it first.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, beverage and food preparation, and making ice until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.  Boiling is the preferred method to assure that the tap water is safe to drink.  Bring all tap water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water.

Updates will be shared on Goochland County’s website (www.goochlandva.us) and our Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/GoochlandCountyVA) and Twitter (@GoochlandGovtVA) accounts.   We encourage citizens and customers to refrain from calling 911 and instead to follow these channels for more information and updates.
